Fill out the google form as best as you can by September 12. The board will meet by mid September to vote on interviews with potential candidates. After the interview period the board will welcome new members in the November Board Meeting.

Centro is a unique historical organization, everything about our internal structure is complex to meet the needs of our community. We run multiple issue program, campaigns, have a physical community hub, are also a fiscal sponsor, and don’t take government or corporate funds. We tend to build up our own structures, agreements and systems to run the organization and win benefits for our community.

Governance: most common type, especially for community-based organizations; makes decisions and guides the direction of the organization, campaigns, and programs; approves allocation of funds – annual budget; creates needed policies; delegates the management and day-to-day activities to the Executive Director.

Collective Decision making is a method of decision making led by a group of people using inclusive practices that allow for all participants to engage in the discussion.

Committees and boards operate by consensus. Consensus may be a majority vote (51% win), and or agree to disagree.

Elements of our collective decision making include:

• clear information and asks delivered in a timely manor

• everyone in the group shares responsibility for the result

• people share thoughts and ask questions before a vote is made

• meeting scheduling and format is a collective effort, at an available time for the majority of the group

• clear facilitator and note taking

Collaborative, honest, and straightforward. We are here to advance a complex organization.

We will meet over zoom or in person to discuss previously developed goals or emergent organizational needs. We believe that a 2 hour regular meeting is too long.

Board members volunteer to take on small tasks or support the Executive Director with the completion of tasks.

Board members can also choose to attend events, conferences, or support with membership meetings.

Before the meeting you will receive the information, we expect you to read it BEFORE we meet to ensure our meetings are focused and effective in reaching a decision.
